Parties with a Purpose!
Mission: The Houston Parrot Head Club function is to provide members with social activities and to be involved with community service, as well as charity and environmental causes. Our club has supported several charities in the Houston area, and we're always looking to provide help to other organizations and charities. If you are a member and would like the club to be involved with a new charity or cause please let us know. charities@houstonparrotheadclub.com
The following are some of the charities and causes our club has supported.
Toys For Tots: Since the beginning of our club we have been supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Starting in November club members are asked to help by bringing unwrapped toys to club happy hours and other events. In December we have our annual Christmas party where we pile all of the collected toys under the tree, and present our donation to Marine representatives. Please visit their web site for more information by clicking on the logo below.
Save The Manatee Club: We have now adopted 3 Manatees and their names are Amanda, Betsy, & Ariel! The Save the Manatee Club was established in 1981 by former Florida Governor Bob Graham and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. SMC was started so the public could participate in conservation efforts to save endangered manatees from extinction. Rod Leger is heading up our campaign to support the Save the Manatee Club. Keep an eye out for Rod at our Happy Hour Phlockings because he'll have his collection jar handy. Please visit their web site for more information by clicking on the logo below, & Click on Manatee Photo below for our adoptee Bios! We plan on continuing our support for the Manatee Club, so please feel free to donate any time.
Additionally, our club has joined the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network out of Galveston. Rod is also the club chairperson for this organization. Check out their website for volunteer information by clicking on their logo below. It's a wonderful organization!
Mud Bug Ball(MBB): In April 2002 the Mud Bug Ball became our official "Party of the Year". This party was started to raise monies for a local charity of the clubs choice. The party involves live bands, conga lines, auctions, games, & of course boiled crawfish. The party has grown each year in every way. Make sure you don't miss the next one! Below is the list of charities that the MMB has supported. Please visit their web sites for more information by clicking on the links below.
